Clergyman, Infected with COVID-19, Hospitalized
A clergyman of the Georgian Orthodox Church is among the 296 patients infected with COVID-19 in the country.
He was taken to the Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic in Tbilisi.
A clergyman's family members, in particular, his sister and niece, have also been admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19 symptoms.
Doctors claim that the health condition of all three patients is stable.
The source of the infection is unknown at this stage, accordingly, it is not clear whether a clergyman was infected while performing services in the church.
"Three members of the one family have been hospitalized, however, it is impossible to say at this point who was infected from whom," said Maka Sologhashvili, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Bochorishvili Clinic.
Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze spoke about the hospitalized clergyman, noting that he attended a service in the Russian Church of St. John the Theologian a few days ago.
"The service, which was attended by a clergyman infected with coronavirus, was attended by other clergymen as well," he noted.
Reportedly, all the persons in contact with the infected clergyman will be quarantined.
The total number of coronavirus cases stands at 296 in Georgia.
68 out of 296 people have recovered from the illness, while 3 patients have died.
In addition, 3 patients have been transferred from abroad to Georgia for the purpose of medical treatment.
