Stricter Lockdown Imposed in Bolnisi Town, Rachisubani Village
Due to the high epidemiological risk on the ground, the government today imposed a stricter quarantine in the town of Bolnisi and the village of Rachisubani in eastern Georgia.
Blockades were set up at the city and village borders by police.
The representatives of local authorities note that transportation of food and medicines to the quarantine zone will be carried out without any delay.
Apart from the town of Bolnisi and the village of Rachisubani, Kvemo Bolnisi, Savaneti, Balichi and Kazreti have also been declared as strict quarantine zones in Bolnisi municipality.
Local authorities once again urged citizens to adhere to the quarantine rules and recommendations and stay at home for their own health and safety.
15 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the past 24 hours in the Bolnisi municipality.
"We have 15 confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, including cases related to family members of the infected ambulance doctor. One case of a medical staff infection has been reported in Marneuli Municipality, who tested negative 10 days ago, but now we have received a positive answer. There is one clergyman among the newly confirmed cases. He has not been in contact with the parishioners since the church is closed,” said Shota Rekhviashvili, Governor of Kvemo Kartli region.
In total, there are 70 cases of coronavirus infection in the region, with 9 cases of recovery and 1 case of death.
Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia remain under lockdown since March 23, after a local woman tested positive for COVID-19 and was in contact with more than 80 people.
