Three More Villages of Bolnisi under Lockdown after 19 New COVID-19 Cases
Due to the high epidemiological risk, three more villages of Bolnisi Municipality, Vanati, Khatisofeli and Mushevani, have been declared a strict quarantine zone.
The representatives of local authorities claim that 19 more patients living in Bolnisi Municipality tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the number of the total confirmed cases to 80, while 4 of them have recovered and 2 have died.
"In accordance with the recommendation of the Bolnisi Public Health Center, due to the high epidemiological risk, the villages Vanati, Khatisofeli and Mushevani, have been declared a strict quarantine zone.
"Bolnisi Municipality has decided to shut down the villages in order to prevent the large-scale spread of the coronavirus on the ground.
"Police checkpoints have been arranged at the entrances of the villages, and law enforcers are monitoring the situation," they reported.
The statement released by the Bolnisi Municipality reads that transportation of food and medicines to the quarantine zone will be carried out without any delay.
Earlier, Bolnisi town and Rachisubani, Kvemo Bolnisi, Savaneti, Balichi villages and Kazreti town were put under lockdown.
Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia remain under lockdown since March 23, after a local woman tested positive for COVID-19 and was in contact with more than 80 people.
