3 Helicopters, 110 Firefighters Trying to Extinguish Forest Fire in Mestia

110 firefighters, 7 fire engines and 3 helicopters of the MIA Border Police are currently trying to extinguish a forest fire that broke out yesterday near Khaishi village in Mestia municipality, in the Svaneti region of western Georgia. 

Firefighters worked on the spot throughout the night, however, the process is further complicated by difficult terrain, heat and strong winds.

The Emergency Management Service of Georgia reports that at the moment the situation is under control and there is no danger of the fire spreading to populated areas.
