US Ambassador Expresses Deepest Condolences for Tragic Loss of 17 Lives

US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan has expressed her condolences for the loss of seventeen lives in Shatili.

"On behalf of the entire community of the US Embassy in Tbilisi, I wish to express our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of seventeen lives in Shatili on August 23. We hold in our thoughts those who perished and those who mourn their loss during this difficult time. May you find comfort in knowing you are not alone - you are surrounded by those who share your grief," she said.

17 people died and 3 were seriously injured as a result of the tragic incident that took place on Sunday evening near Biso in the Dusheti Municipality. A passenger minibus fell over a rocky slope, from a height of approximately 80 meters.
