Fire in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Extinguished
A fire that broke out on the territory of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park has been extinguished, the Emergency Management Service of Georgia reports.
Despite the difficult terrain, firefighters were able to mobilize equipment and manpower near the epicenter of the fire. Firefighters, rangers and locals were involved in the fire fighting operations. Based on the preliminary data, about 4 hectares of the forest has been burned.
Criminal and patrol police crews are mobilized on the spot.
The reason behind the fire is still unknown.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the incident under Article 187, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates damaging or destroying an item by setting it on fire.
