Health Official on Coronavirus: Adjara Now a Red Zone
Marina Ezugbaia, the Medical Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, stated today that the increasing number of coronavirus cases indicates that the spread of the virus in Georgia has become intense and a controlled increase is now in question.
Yet she states that locking down Adjara is not being considered at this stage, "However, the implementation of the recommendations and safety measures should be strengthened."
"Adjara is now a red zone in terms of virus spread," she emphasized.
45 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Georgia during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 1729.
23 of the 45 newly detected cases are related to the Adjara region, while the source of infection of 3 patients is unknown.
