Coronavirus in Georgia: Death Toll Increases to 54

Another patient has died of coronavirus in Georgia bringing the death toll to 54.

The deceased was an 87-year-old woman who had severe heart failure and many concomitant diseases.

She was being treated at the Kutaisi hospital.

This is the fourth case of death reported in the last 24 hours.

Earlier, the Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze said at a briefing that two patients infected with COVID-19 had died in Batumi and one in Kutaisi.

As of October 5, 578 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia, bringing the total number of infected people to 8696.

Of the 578 newly detected cases, 416 were reported in Adjara and 72 in Tbilisi. 

The number of recovered patients increased by 375 to reach 4619.

Currently, there are 4023 active cases of coronavirus in Georgia.
