Gov't Strongly Recommends Wearing Masks in Open Spaces in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi
The Government of Georgia strongly recommends that citizens also wear face masks in open spaces in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi due to the increasing number of infections.
The relevant statement was made by the Head of the Governmental Administration, Natia Mezvrishvili, after a meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council.
"Considering the epidemiological situation in 3 cities, Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi, it is a strong recommendation that masks be worn outdoors also, especially in places where it is impossible to maintain a distance from others. We urge you to wear masks in open spaces in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi from today. This will be controlled by the relevant services, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Labor Inspectorate. We hope that we will not need to use police resources for the above," she stated.
As of October 23, 1759 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia, bringing the total number of infected people to 24562.
Of the newly detected cases, 686 were reported in Tbilisi, 487 in Adjara, and 356 in Imereti.
Currently, there are 14628 active cases in the country.
