Protests to Continue Against Panorama Tbilisi Construction

According to the movement "paNOrama", another demonstration is to be held on July 25 at 5pm outside the premises of GDS TV on Maro Makashvili Rise, against “Panorama Tbilisi”, a controversial construction project initiated and financed by former Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The development, which is to include the building of four new hotels and an elaborate cable car network, is planned for the historic Sololaki district of Tbilisi. Protests against the construction have been underway for some time now with the latest episode leading to some arrests last weekend.

“Until the plans are withdrawn we are staying together to protect a historical part of Tbilisi,” said a spokesperson of “paNOrama". The movement's spokesperson also encouraged demonstrators to bring instruments, kitchenware or anything that could be used to make the protest as loud as possible.

So far, over 150 supporters of the movement have confirmed their attendance on Facebook.
