Interior Ministry Says Fire Extinguished in Borjomi
Deputy Interior Minister of Georgia Merab Malania says that fire in Borjomi Gorge has been extinguished.
Malania added the helicopters will observe the fire-hit territory this morning. Afterwards it will be decided whether the aviation will continue working or not.
Two Georgian, two Turkish and one helicopter from Azerbaijan were actively working on the site yesterday.
Interior Ministry (MIA) stated that since the breakout of the blaze on Sunday, 6 kilometer road has been cut to reach the burning areas.
This is the third large-scale fire in Borjomi forest since 2008 Georgia-Russia war, when the occupants deliberately set fire in the area.
The second fire broke out on August 20, 2017 and after Georgia’s joint efforts with the friendly states, the fire was put out after a week.
