Georgian Beats Israel in Basketball

On 3 December, the Georgian national basketball team beat Israel 71-69 in the European Qualifier game in Tbilisi.

Playing at the Sports Palace in Tbilisi, the nail-biting match was close until the very end. Georgia, having lost the first quarter 9 - 11 bounced back in the second quarter with 25 - 19. The third and fourth quarter resulted in narrow wins for Israel, with Georgia winning in overtime. Georgia ultimately won the victory with a higher percentage of 2 point shots (43%) compared to Israel (26%).

The top Georgian performer of the match was Goga Bitadze with 18 points, whilst the Israeli top performing player was Jake Cohen with 22 points.

The match was a European qualifier for the next world cup. The FIBA Basketball cup will take place in China in 2019.
