Nikoloz Basilashvili Ranked in Tennis Top 20

Georgian tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili has been seeded number 20 in world tennis play rankings, with 1820 points.

Born in Tbilisi, the 26-year-old spent much of his school years in California in the USA. He began playing tennis when he was 6 years old. From 2012 to 2014, he was winner at the Georgian Tennis Championships.

Prior to competing in the Qatar Open, which kicked off on 31 December, he was seeded 21. He got through to the quarter finals before being defeated by Novak Djokovic.

The Australian Open, held from 14 January - 27 January in Melbourne, will be Basilashvili’s next major tournament. Hopes are high for a strong performance following his success at the German Open and China Open in 2018. He is currently at the highest ranking and position of his career.
