Batumi Hosts European Weightlifting Championship

Batumi is hosting the European Weightlifting Championship 50th Jubilee from April 6 to April 13.

400 wrestlers from 42 countries competed for 180 medals and the title of European Champion. Weightlifters also fought for license scores for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Around 1000 guests are expected to travel to Batumi for the championship. Footage of the competition will be televised in over 60 countries.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, Chairman of Ajara, Tornike Rizvadze and other officials attended the opening ceremony yesterday.
