Success of the Junior Team of Georgian Judokas

The junior team of Georgian judokas end the European Cup in one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, showing the best result among the teams of 18 countries that took part in the tournament held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.


The team women joined the tournament with 7 sportsmen, 6 of which went up the pedestal. Eter Liparteliani (57kgs) and Sophio Somkhishvili (+78kgs) became champions. Natalia Kipshidze (48kgs) and Mariam Chanturia (70kgs) took home silver medals and Nino Gulbani (-70kgs) and Salome Makishvili (+78kgs) won bronze medals.

The boys team of Georgian Judo players also took part in the Romanian tournament. The Georgian team only presented one junior – Giorgi Sherazadishvili – who won the third place in the 81 kg weight category.
