Georgia’s Bolkvadze Wins First Round of US Open

On August 26, Mariam Bolkvadze, a 21-year-old Georgian tennis player, came out on top by winning the first round of the US open.

Bolkvadze defeated her American rival Bernarda Pera in three sets with 6:3; 5:7; 6:4.

The next round is to take place tomorrow, August 28, where Mariam Bolkvadze will meet with Karolina Plíšková, a Czech professional tennis player, ranked No. 3 in the world by the Women's Tennis Association.
