Georgian Athletes Succeed at European Judo Junior Championships

Georgian athletes have successfully completed the recent European Judo Junior Championships 2019, taking place in Finland and bringing 342 competitors from 44 countries. The representatives of Georgia claimed nine medals in total, including six gold, one silver and two bronze.

This years’ championships were especially important for Georgia, as for the first time in history of the country a female judoka Eter Liparteliani obtained a gold at the event.

The gold medals were claimed by Giorgi Tutashvili (-66kg); Tato Grigalashvili (-81kg); Lasha Bekauri (-90 kg); Ilia Sulamanidze (-100 kg); Gela Zaalishvili (+100kg) and Eter Liparteliani (-57kg), whereas Vladimer Akhalkatsi (81kg) won a silver. Bronze medals were obtained by Marian Chanturia (-70kg) and Mikheil Bekauri (-90kg).
