Georgian Team Kicks off European Water Polo Championship with a Win
The 2020 European Water Polo Championship has kicked off in Budapest, Hungary, and with some success for the Georgian participants, seeing the Georgian national water polo team defeating France in the first game of the tournament.
The Georgian team handed a defeat to the French with an impressing nine to seven on January 13. Boris Vapenski played it out the most impressively, scoring three times for his team made up of Revaz Imnaishvili, Andria Bitadze, Khvicha Jakhia, Mikheil Baghaturia, Giorgi Magrakvelidze, and Fabio Baraldi.
The Hungarian capital of Budapest is hosting the championship from January 12 to 26.
The Georgian team wil have the next two games on January 16 against Greece, and January 18 versus Italy, the current champion. The latter promises to be an especially interesting event since Georgians have an Italian, Baraldi, on their team.
