FC Locomotive Tbilisi Beats Dinamo Moscow
Georgian football club Locomotive Tbilisi on Thursday defeated Russian Dinamo Moscow with a score 2:1 in the 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League and moved to the next stage, where its rival will be the Spanish 'Granada.'
The match was held at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi. Mamia Gavashelishvili and Irakli Sikharulidze scored the goals.
No official meeting between Georgian and Russian clubs in international tournaments has been held since 1997.
At the same time, another Georgian club, Dinamo Tbilisi, defeated "Connah's Quay Nomads" of Wales with a score 1:0 within the qualification stage of the Europa League.
Giorgi Gabedava scored the goal in the 7th extra minute.
"Nomads were seconds away from taking the tie into extra time, but the hosts conceded a penalty deep into added time that Dinamo Tbilisi converted to win 1-0 and progress in the Europa League," leaderlive.co.uk reported.
