Georgia Drops Russia 24-7 in European Nations Cup Match

SOCHI, Russia – Georgia’s National Rugby team on Saturday defeated host nation Russia 24-7 in a European Nations Cup match played in Sochi.

Georgia dominated the first half of the match with an offensive onslaught that saw the visitors close out the opening frame up 10-0.

The victory leaves the Georgians atop their group with 10 victories.

The Lelos have yet to be defeated in the tournament; a run that saw them rack-up important victories over Germany, Portugal and Spain in February.

The loss was the fourth for the hosts, leaving the Russians third on the leader board behind Georgia and Romania.

Georgia will gear up for its next match on home turf, as they play host to Romania on March 19 in Tbilisi.
