Georgia's Mzechabuk Makharadze Wins Gold in Ukraine
CHERKASY, Ukraine - Georgia’s Mzechabuk Makharadze won gold in the Individual Senior Kata and silver in the Kumite categories at the 5th European Karate Championship in Cherkasy, Ukraine.
More than 1,000 athletes from 30 countries are taking part in the two-day competition.
“During the competition, I took part in several individual matches. The final was tense and difficult, but eventually I defeated competitors from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Russia and Lithuania and won the gold medal,’ – told Mzechabuk Makharadze GEORGIA TODAY.
Makhradze, the reigning European and world V Dan champion, has taken part in three international competitions this year as a member of the Georgian Shotokan Karate-Do Confederation. He will next compete in Istanbul on August 7-8.
