Georgia’s National Rugby Team Beats Samoa

TBILISI - Georgia’s national rugby team defeated Samoa with 20:16 this Saturday at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

The match was devoted to the United Nations campaign 'Against Violence towards Women.'

Prior to defeating the Samoan team, the Georgians had a game with Japan, but lost the match with 22:28.

The final match will be held with the national team of Scotland on November 26.

Coach of Georgia’s team, Milton Haig, said he is pleased with the scores, which were the result of hard work, though he did say they could have done better.

Haig stated the team would now be getting ready for the match with Scotland and he is well aware the game will be tough.

“Scotland is one of the best. It's always been in the top ten. The match will be hard; let's wait and see what happens on the ground,” he said.

The Capitan of Georgia’s national team, Mamuka Gorgodze, also assessed the match with Samoa as successful, also noting that better results could have been achieved.

He thanked the Georgian fans for their support. “A difficult match awaits us," he said. "But we are going to use everythign we've got."

Currently, Georgia’s national team is on 12th place of the World Rugby Ranking, following the Japanese national team.
