World Football Stars to Play a Match in Tbilisi

The Georgian Football Federation is to organize a charity football match “World Football Stars for Georgia”, to be held at Dinamo Arena on September 29. 

The Georgian Football Federation has stated that famous football players; Francesco Totti, Andrei Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini, Luca Toni, Vincent Candela and other stars will perform at the charity match, with all funds from the match to go to the Borjomi Forest restoration. 

As Davit Mujiri, General Secretary of the Georgian Football Federation announced at the press conference on September 19, the idea of the charity match came after the Georgia-Ireland played, when all the money allocated from the sold tickets went to Borjomi forest restoration. “We decided to do a charity match that would not only be a celebration for Georgian football fans, but would also play an important part in the restoration of the Borjomi forest damaged after the fires this summer,” He said. Mujiri mentioned that one of the teams will have Otto Rehhagel as a coach, who became European champion with Greece’s football team in 2004. As for the second coach and the exact composition of teams, information is set to be released by next week. Tickets for the match are available at tkt.ge, with prices ranging from 5 to 25 Gel. 

World Football Stars for Georgia is organized in partnership VTB Bank and Aisi Beer Company.
