Georgia Loses to Germany in Basketball World Cup Qualifier

Georgia were defeated 77 – 87 by unbeaten Germany in the Tbilisi Sport Palace last night. Georgia is now third out of the four teams in Group G, which also includes Serbia and Austria.

The next game will be against Serbia on June 29, 2018, which they must win if they wish to enter the next round of the competition.

Georgia emerged as victorious when they faced Austria last Friday, winning 78 - 64 at the Multiversum Arena in their home city of Schwechat. This was the first time that Georgia has participated in the World Cup qualifiers. Back in November 2017, they were prevented from competing, losing to Serbia and Germany.

The 2019 Basketball World Cup will be held in China from August 31 to September 15. 12 teams will enter the competition out of the 32 currently competing for a place.
